Both Montgomery County and Clarksville mayors enacted orders Monday that required the closure of the interior concourses of Governor’s Square Mall.
The mandate was part of an effort to slow the spread of COVID-19, also known as the new coronavirus.
Governor’s Square Mall closed Tuesday evening and will remain closed through March 31. Unless government authorities extend the closure order, the mall will reopen for business April 1.
Although the enclosed mall will be temporarily closed, several businesses deemed essential will remain open. They include Best Buy, Firestone, Gordon Food Service, JoAnn, Petco, Target and Vitamin Shoppe.
Several restaurants such as Chuck E. Cheese’s, Golden Corral, IHOP, Old Chicago Pizza, Rafferty’s, Steak ‘n Shake and Subway will serve their customers but only on a take-out or delivery basis.

All events scheduled for the next two weeks were canceled at the mall.
Governor’s Square Mall in Clarksville has served the community since 1986.
