Meals for children will be served Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 10 a.m. until noon at several schools in Montgomery County until further notice.
Meals will be provided at Barkers Mill Elementary School, Barksdale Elementary School, Burt Elementary School, Byrns Darden Elementary School, Cumberland Heights Elementary School, Glenellen Elementary School, Kenwood Elementary School, Minglewood Elementary School, Moore Elementary School, Norman Smith Elementary School, Ringgold Elementary School and Woodlawn Elementary School, as well as Kenwood High School, Montgomery Central High School, Northeast High School, Northwest High School and West Creek High School to all children 18 years old and younger.
Meals will be distributed via a grab-and-go, curbside method. Children who receive the meals must be present at the distribution site. Meals cannot be eaten on site, per U.S. Department of Agriculture regulations.
Each child will get a bag that will include four meals both Mondays and Wednesdays and six meals each Friday. The plan will reduce the amount of travel to and from the distribution sites during the week. Some of the food will require refrigeration and/or re-heating to ensure freshness.
Families are encouraged to practice social distancing and not congregate at the meal pickup locations. School officials urged patience and understanding as they navigate the logistics of the program. Visit cmcss.net for more information.
