Austin Peay’s 74th-annual homecoming parade Nov. 9 will celebrate two treasures dear to APSU hearts: veterans and the Governors.

The Veterans Homecoming Parade will start at 10 a.m. at the corner of College and Eighth streets. The parade – which this year combines with the Clarksville-Montgomery County Veterans Day Parade – is free and open to the public and will have more than 150 entries.

Festivities such as Stache Street and Tailgate Alley will follow the parade, and the 2019 homecoming game – in which the Govs play host to Tennessee Martin – will kick off at 3 p.m.

The theme for this year’s homecoming celebration is “Govs on Broadway.”

Parade route will be near campus, downtown

The parade route will start at College and Eighth streets, head down College Street toward downtown. From there, the parade will turn left onto University Avenue, then right onto Main Street and left onto Fourth Street. The parade will continue left onto Franklin Street before it turns left onto Eighth Street. The parade will end at Jackson Alley and Eighth Street.

Streets along the route will be closed from 9:30-11:30 a.m.

Call 931-221-7431 for parade details and information.

Stache Street, Tailgate Alley bring food, fun before the game

Following the parade, Stache Street – a family friendly block party with food trucks, inflatables and music – will open from noon until just before kickoff. Marion Street in front of Fortera Stadium and the Foy Center and Henry Street beside the stadium will be closed. The longstanding Divine Nine tailgate celebration will continue along Marion Street, next to Stache Street.

Tailgate Alley in the large parking lot on the home side of Fortera Stadium will open at 11 a.m. To reserve a tailgate spot, call 931-221-7904. The Alumni Tailgate, which is free and open to all alumni and their friends, will be from 1-3 p.m. in Tailgate Alley.
