The Austin Peay State University department of theatre and dance, along with artistic directors Eboné Amos and Margaret Rennerfeldt, will present the fall dance concert Oct. 31 through Nov. 3, at the Trahern Theatre.

The show will start at 7:30 p.m. with matinee performances Saturday and Sunday at 2 p.m.

Austin Peay dance concerts are filled with talent and innovation that will inspire people to dance like no one’s watching. This year’s fall dance concert will have two acts that will feature the works of faculty members including Marcus Hayes, Kevin Bradley Loveland Jr., Amos and Rennerfeldt.

The pieces will range from whimsically modern to in-your-face contemporary, featuring elements of modern, jazz, ballet and hip-hop.

Sunday’s audience will be treated to a third act that will feature the senior BFA capstone projects of Kelly Barrios and Destiny Smith.

Barrios said her project, Headspace, “deals with the idea of wanting to fit in, struggling to accept yourself for who you are and coming to terms with your flaws and learning to embrace them.”

Smith’s capstone, titled the Game of Life, explores various aspects of childhood games such as joy, fear and competition.

Smith said she “believes that a lot of dancers’ first interaction with dance comes from games we all play as children.” She used the idea as a starting point to create her pieces.

Tickets may be purchased through the theatre and dance box office webpage at General admission tickets are $10; students, seniors and military personnel will be admitted for $5. Tickets purchased at the door with cash will incur a $2 service fee.
