Hit country music duo Maddie and Tae will rock Fort Campbell 7 p.m. Nov. 9 at Cole Park Commons, and Fort Campbell Morale, Welfare and Recreation wants to fill the venue.
“We offered tickets to on-post residents and employees only until Oct. 1,” Melissa Schaffner, marketing director for Fort Campbell MWR, said. “We had tickets left so we opened it up to the outside community members who can access the post.”
Maddie and Tae are on an 11-installation tour, part of the “Women Rock the Forts” tour, presented by Army Entertainment. Special guests include Ruthie Collins and Natalie Stovall; and Lakin.
Both singers are looking forward to performing at Fort Campbell for Soldiers and their Families.
“Performing for the troops on this tour has been such an honor, it’s definitely one of the best parts of the job,” Maddie Marlow said. “We can’t wait to see everyone in Fort Campbell.”
Tae describes the opportunity to perform on the “Women Rock The Forts” tour as a rewarding experience.
“Sharing our music with the military crowds and their Families on the ‘Women Rock The Forts’ tour has been incredibly rewarding,” Tae said. “Maddie and I are looking forward to another special night.”
The concert will be general admission and everyone will have a seat, according to Schaffner. There will also be a bar for refreshments, including alcoholic beverages, and snacks for purchase.
Tickets are $20 and can be purchased at Leisure Travel Services, located in the Exchange Mall; Gear To Go; or Cole Park Commons. Concertgoers also can purchase tickets by calling 270-798-7436 and pick up the tickets the night of the concert at the will-call station.
“The will-call opportunity is a big deal,” Schaffner said. “We are not selling tickets online and the three businesses are only open at certain times and on certain days, like Monday through Friday. People who may want to buy tickets but are unable to get away from their workplace could potentially have an issue, especially those who don’t work on post, so they can call and buy tickets over the phone and pick the tickets up at the show and not have to worry about it.”
The concert is a great way to celebrate Fort Campbell Soldiers and their Families and bring everyone together in a fun way.
“I think entertainment is part of a quality, healthy lifestyle,” Schaffner said. “Some Families enjoy going to concerts and listening to music. Maddie and Tae are popular with young people right now as well, they were an opening act for Carrie Underwood this year, and this gives you an up-close and personal setting to hear them play.”
While being marketed as a Family event, child care is being offered to parents who may want to enjoy a night out alone while their children are safely cared for nearby.
Fort Campbell MWR and Parent Central Services is hosting a Parents Night Out event Nov. 9, providing concertgoers the opportunity for child care 6-11 p.m. Children must be registered with Child and Youth Services and the cost is $25 per child or 5 respite hours. Snacks will be provided and children can come in pajamas. Sign-up for Parents’ Night Out ends Nov. 6. To sign your children up, call Parent Central Services at 270-798-0674.
The concert will provide a unique opportunity to be up close and personal with performers in a small-scale setting, Schaffner said.
“It’s a big concert in an intimate setting,” she said. “We want to make sure you get your tickets beforehand, because we could be sold out on opening night. If you are a Maddie and Tae fan, you definitely want to get your ticket beforehand.”
