Prayer gathering planned for elected officials

Elected leaders from Clarksville and Montgomery County plan to gather for prayer Nov. 10 at 8 a.m. at First Baptist Church in the fellowship hall.

Members of the Clarksville Area Ministerial Association and president Bishop Anthony Alfred will play host to the annual event designed as a prayer gathering for all the elected leaders of the community.

Gov. Bill Lee will bring greetings by video, and Montgomery County Mayor Jim Durrett, Clarksville Mayor Joe Pitts, and Director of Schools Millard House will bring greetings in person. 

County commissioners and other county elected officials, as well as the members of the Clarksville City Council, were invited. Other invited guests include the members of Clarksville-Montgomery County Schools Board of Education. The public is welcome to attend.

The guest speaker will be Chaplain Cody Vest, who is the garrison chaplain for Fort Campbell. Prior to becoming the garrison chaplain, he served as the 2nd Brigade Combat Team chaplain with the 101st Airborne Division. 

 

 

Other program participants will include the Rev. Won Chul Lee, pastor of the United Assembly of God Church; the Rev. Will Binkley, pastor of Spring Creek Baptist Church; the Rev. Bill Graham, member care pastor at First Baptist Church; the Rev. Harriett Bryan, senior pastor at Madison Street Methodist Church; Michael Moss, pastor of Tabernacle Baptist Church; and retired Chaplain Anderson Grant. Lavon Bracey will sing the national anthem. State Rep. Jason Hodges will bring a response in appreciation to the prayer gathering.
