The Community School of the Arts at Austin Peay State University will hold an open house Jan. 25 from 2-5 p.m. in the Art + Design Building on campus.
The event is free, and no registration is required. Prospective students and parents will have a chance to tour the classrooms where CSA classes take place, meet CSA instructors and experience short class demonstrations. Visitors can also enter to win a free CSA class.
“It’s an exciting time of growth for the CSA, and we are thrilled to share our programs with new and returning students and their families,” said Dawn Dickins, CSA coordinator. “We invite the public to the open house to meet our talented staff and see what the CSA has to offer.”
Community engagement is at the heart of the CSA. All classes offered through CSA are affordable and open to the public. While fees vary, enrollment at Austin Peay is not required to take part in any CSA course, and most classes do not require any prior experience. CSA courses are skill-based, allowing students to focus on personal goals. Without competition or the pressure to perform, students can enjoy a relaxed environment while still learning from the experts.
CSA spring classes will include advanced ceramics, art for teens, art for children, mindful art for fifth through graders, digital photography, the short film, beginning knitting, beginning guitar, beginning ukulele, ballet, jazz, tap, expression through dance I and II and creative writing for military and families.
Anyone who would like to attend the open house may arrive at the Austin Peay Art + Design building between 2-4:55 p.m. Registration for spring 2020 classes will end Feb. 1.
