The banks of the Cumberland River will once again be lit with more than 1 million dazzling lights as Christmas on the Cumberland will return to McGregor Park Riverwalk during the holiday season.
The grand opening will take place Nov. 24 from 5-7 p.m. at McGregor Park Riverwalk and Museum. The family friendly event will include a visit with Santa and free hot chocolate provided by Pleasant View Baptist Church. The official lighting ceremony will begin at 6 p.m. with the lights to be lit shortly after.
New to this year’s Christmas light display are three displays bought with funds raised from the 2019 Christmas Light Run. In addition, Clarksville Parks and Recreation and the city of Paducah, Kentucky and Paducah Power System worked together by swapping out three light displays to provide something new and different for each city’s Christmas displays.
Following the grand opening, the display will be open Sundays through Thursdays from 5-10 p.m. and Fridays and Saturdays from 5-11 p.m. through Jan. 1.
An opportunity to visit with Santa and enjoy free hot chocolate will be available Dec. 12 and Dec. 19 from 6-8 p.m.
Christmas on the Cumberland will be free and open to the public. Social distancing reminders will be placed throughout the park, and guests will be required to wear cloth face coverings when social distancing of 6 feet cannot be maintained.
