The former Pier 1 location at 2819 Wilma Rudolph Blvd. found a new occupant with Popshelf, which is Dollar General’s new concept retail store.
Popshelf has already experienced a soft opening, allowing customers to shop and browse the new store.
Clarksville resident Lulu Steinbach took her two daughters, Alyssa, 11, and Lily, 15, to Popshelf on Nov. 2 and came out with a bag full of goodies.
“We really liked it,” Steinbach said. “It has a lot of home décor, household supplies, makeup and holiday decorations.”
Two Popshelf retail stores are planned in Middle Tennessee. In addition to the Clarksville store, Hendersonville is set to open a Popshelf.
Other locations across the country are also expected to open, but the Clarksville store is the first.
The store is said to have a boutique feel and will be segmented into different sections based on item categories.
“Popshelf’s mission is to make every day special by providing shoppers a stress-free shopping destination for everyday items and those special things that make living better,” a Dollar General release said. “With most items priced under $5…we make it easy for consumers to stay within their budget while treating themselves at the same time.”
Earlier this week, Clarksville newcomers Terry Barlow and his wife, Cindy Barlow, said they found several items for their new place.
“We’ll be back,” Cindy Barlow said.
Popshelf offers a selection of seasonal items, house ware, home décor and beauty products, among other items.
Its target demographic consists primarily of women from diverse suburban communities with a total household annual income that range from $50,000 to $125,000.
Each Popshelf store is expected to create up to 15 new jobs. Available positions for the Tennessee stores are currently available at careers.popshelf.com.
