Montgomery Academy in Clarksville held its first science fair and art show April 16.

All of the school’s science students participated in the science fair and featured various projects from “what make pastry rise” to “fuel type that produces the most thrust.” Students from first through ninth grades participated in the fair and explained their projects to interested observers.

Art students exhibited skills learned throughout the year with a wall filled with various creative art pieces.

The evening concluded with a performance from a selection of William Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream,” which students read in class this year.

The academy, established in 2018, meets Mondays and Wednesdays from 9:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. to offer classes for homeschooled students. Using methods within a Christian classical and Charlotte Mason framework, Montgomery Academy offers instruction in literature, logic, writing, art, history and science, with time for processing, exploration and creativity.

Montgomery Academy believes parents have the primary responsibility and privilege to educate and discipline their children. The academy seeks to strengthen and encourage rather than replace a student’s family. Montgomery Academy offers training resources, including in-service and conference times, curriculum training and supplementary resources. Outdoor recreation is included to build strong, healthy relationships that enhance joyful learning. A competitive archery team is also planned for the fall.
