Clarksville police rescued a toddler from a suspect who barricaded himself July 17 in a home on Cranklen Circle and eventually fatally shot himself.
Police said the incident started at 1:34 p.m., when officers went to a potential domestic violence call on Scott Drive. When officers arrived, they found Kantrell Head, 30, of Clarksville, on Cranklen Circle and rescued a toddler. Head barricaded himself in a home on Cranklen Circle before officers could arrest him.
After several hours of attempts to get Head to come out peacefully, officers found Head’s body. Police said he died from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Homicide unit detectives started a death investigation, and crime scene team officers processed the scene. Police said no officers were injured during the incident.
The investigation remained open and active, and police didn’t release any further information.
