Two suspects charged in online dating aggravated robbery incidents

Clarksville police detectives charged two suspects with two counts each of aggravated robbery after the men apparently used online dating sites and apps to meet up with people to rob them.

Cebric J. Moten, 20, and Darius D. Hines, 20, were charged in connection to the incidents.

Police said Moten faces similar charges that stemmed from an incident that happened in Jackson in 2018.  He was out on bond while he was in Clarksville.

Moten remained in the Madison County Jail in Jackson. Hines remained in the Montgomery County Jail.

Police said in an Aug. 28 release that between Aug. 21-24, officers received reports where multiple victims were assaulted after meeting people from online dating sites.

“We want to remind people that when meeting someone for the first time as a result of a dating site, please schedule that meeting for a populated, well-lit area,” said public information officer Michael Patterson.

Patterson said the investigation remained open, and more charges were pending.
