Fanelli’s Deli & Market is open on Franklin Street and brings the traditions of New York deli sandwiches, with bold flavors and super fresh ingredients, down South.

I decided on the Italian sub sandwich. Having lunch in a legitimate New York-style deli, one of the first of its kind in Clarksville, I had to go for one of the classics. I made the right choice, because this was one of the tastiest sandwiches I’ve ever had the pleasure of eating.

Capicola, zesty salami and hot ham were stacked up high on thick Italian bread. Topped off with straight-from-the-garden green peppers and silky white onions, all cut razor thin and piled high, this sub had magnificent flavors all the way through. Finished off with thick slices of Provolone cheese and a nice spread of Italian dressing on one side, spicy mustard on the other, the flavors here were just as divine as they come. The ferocious crunch of fresh vegetables, along with the salt and light heat of the robust Italian meats, created an epic flow of flavor combinations.

Fanelli’s has a nice-sized menu, with several sandwiches to choose from, all at reasonable prices. They offer breakfast selections, as well, including the New Jersey favorite, the Taylor’s pork roll. With New York-style sandwiches such the Italian sausage or the caprese, there’s a whole new world to explore here in the way of deli. All lunch sandwiches include a bag of kettle chips and a fountain beverage.

Not only does Fanelli’s have a great menu available, but they also have a full-scale Italian market. Shelves are laden with an impressive array of authentic Italian sauces, unique pastas and gourmet Italian coffees. Deli coolers are filled with an ample variety of stuffed olives, Italian meats and glorious cheeses. And let’s not forget about the goodies. Fanelli’s Deli has traditional Italian cannoli and the New York staple, the black-and-white cookie.

If you are looking for an amazing sandwich or want to create an epic charcuterie board or traditional Italian meal, check out Fanelli’s Deli & Market in downtown Clarksville. It’s open Tuesdays through Saturdays from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. and Sundays from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m.
