Thank you, Montgomery County

Reedy

Reedy

It has been my honor and privilege to represent the residents of District 74 in the Tennessee House of Representatives for the past eight years. Until recently, that district included all of Houston, Humphreys and the western portion of Montgomery counties.

As you may have seen, the General Assembly approved a redistricting plan earlier this month that changes the boundaries of almost every House district in the state. This process occurs every 10 years and is based on updated population data collected during the most recent federal census.

As a result, I no longer represent the western portion of Montgomery County like I have since 2014. That area is now its own standalone district – House District 75.

So, I wanted to take this opportunity to thank you, my former constituents, for all of the support and trust you have given me since I was first elected.

In many ways, my time in office has reaffirmed what I already knew about Montgomery County – that it’s a special place full of wonderful, hard-working and genuine people. You graciously welcomed this farm boy from Idaho into your community when the Army first brought me to Fort Campbell in the 1980’s. Since then, we have overcome challenges, celebrated victories, seen our families grow and built lasting friendships together along the way.

It was because of your support that I was able to make it to the General Assembly. I simply could not have been elected without you. And while I love every community in District 74, it meant so much to me to be able to represent the beautiful rural area of Montgomery County that is home to so many farmers and military veterans like myself.

I’m proud of what we have been able to accomplish along the way such as bringing more economic funding and opportunities to this part of our state. Looking ahead, I am confident that there are even brighter days ahead for us all.

This year, residents in western Montgomery County will elect a new state representative. I’m looking forwarding to meeting the candidates and I know that whomever you choose will be truly blessed to have you as their constituents. I know I surely have been for the past eight years.

I cannot begin to thank you enough for all of the support you’ve given me during our time together. It has been an honor to represent you. I pray that God will continue to bless Montgomery County and the state of Tennessee in the years ahead.

State Rep. Jay Reedy lives in Erin and represents Tennessee House District 74, which includes all of Benton, Houston, Humphreys, Stewart and part of Henry counties.
