Matt Wallace stands on the sideline during a Clarksville Academy game last season.

After spending nine seasons as the Clarksville Academy boys basketball head coach, Matt Wallace has resigned from the position.

Wallace went 123-123 with the Cougars, stringing together four consecutive winning seasons to end his tenure. The run included back-to-back 20-win seasons in 2016-17 and 2017-18. The announcement came just weeks after Clarksville Academy girls basketball coach Carrie Daniels stepped down after accepting a new position in Indiana.

Wallace’s son, Cooper, played one season under Wallace and is slated to return to the team for his upcoming sophomore year. His youngest son is a seventh grader who also plays.

The next coach will face the task of replacing the productivity of an entire starting lineup of departing seniors Daniel Loos, Harrison Lackey, Will Mabry, Donovan Hardison and Jeremiah Smith, among others.
