The Rossview Lady Hawks celebrated their senior class on Tuesday, Sept. 28 prior to their game against the Northeast Lady Eagles.
The team honored Averie Travers, Nicole Stanley, Hadley Deal, Taniya Nicholes and Lauren Snyder.
“It’s the energy that they bring to the floor and off the floor,” said RHS head coach Tishara Hicks of her seniors. “When we’re down sometimes, they’re the first ones to be like ‘you guys got it, keep pushing, hustle.’ Give pointers, feedback to whoever’s on the court, whatever the situation is.”
That group helped lead the team to a 3-0 win over Northeast, giving them their second win over their inter-city rival this season.
The first set was heavily in Rossview’s favor, as they took the lead on the night with a 25-15 victory. The final two, though, were much closer: Rossview squeaked out wins of 25-22 and 25-23.
Considering that it was the first time the Lady Eagles had their entire team together since their first game of the season, though, it was hard for head coach Joyce Williams to be too upset with the loss.
“Overall, I’m glad we gave them a better game than we gave them the first time,” she said. “And it was our first time playing together as a whole team. So overall, I’m proud of the girls. Like I told them, don’t hold their head down because I think we gave them a really good game.
“It’s just that I want us to start the same way we finish, which was really fast and aggressive together. Other than that, we can only get better and improve for the playoffs.”
The game was the last of the regular season for Rossview, who finishes the year 11-12. Northeast has one game left on the schedule, a home game against Cheatham County Central on Wednesday, Sept. 29.
